Anglesey is an island county in North West Wales accessed by two road bridges and one rail bridge which connect the island to the outskirts of the university town of Bangor, Gwynedd, on the mainland of the UK.
We have many interesting tourist and historical attractions on Anglesey from castles and beautiful beaches to a stone age village and ancient burial mounds. The main UK to Ireland ferry route runs from Holyhead to Dun Laughaire and Dublin, and we are also close to the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd.
There has been Girlguiding on Anglesey since 1914 with units started in Holyhead and Menai Bridge. Now we have over 500 girl members in 34 units of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section – spread across the island.
We also have self-catering indoor holiday accommodation at Lligwy Guide House, Penrhoslligwy, which is let in two sections (and can be combined). The school sleeps 29 in a dormitory and leaders' room, and Ty Bodafon sleeps 13 in three bedrooms. Lligwy is an old converted school at the edge of a village 15 minutes walk from the beach.
