The Duke Of Edinburgh Award is a voluntary, challenging, noncompetitive, personal development programme available to all young people aged between 14 and 25 years.
Older Guides and Senior Section members can all achieve through the Award, as success is determined by participation over a period of time, as well as improvement on the individual's own start point.
Working with local Rainbow, Brownie or Guide unit is the most likely way in which participants give service to Girlguiding UK.
Other opportunities for non-members include:
a) Service linked to a specific time-limited Girlguiding UK initiative,
which is of benefit to the wider community
b) Taking part in the planning of a Girlguiding UK event
Members of Girlguiding UK may also like to consider:
a) Working for a Girlguiding UK qualification, and using it for the benefit
of a local unit
b) Offering service overseas as a member of Girlguiding UK on a GOLD project
(Guiding Overseas Linked with Development).
Activities taken for the Award may also count towards the Queen's Guide Award and Look Wider.
