Senior Section members aged 14-26 can now train to become In4mers, travelling to units, youth groups and schools using peer education techniques to share skills and experience with others. Whether you're a Ranger, Young Leader, Guider or solely want to be an In4mer, we can offer you an exciting programme of training and opportunities that can count towards Queen's Guide Award, Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Chief Guide's Challenge for example. 4 is a DfES funded initiative in partnership with Connexions.
Involvement in 4 is free to participants and funding is available for projects.
Trainings are run nationally every year and cater for all needs, from those who have been active peer educators in the past to those who are brand new to the concept.
Dip in have-a-go activities to whet your appetite and introduce you to 4. See the Senior Section web pages for ideas from April 2004 onwards.
The next step for people with little or no previous experience in peer education. A two day training to give you all the skills you need and information on two topics to start you off.
"we're moving forward, building on our strengths"
If you've previously been involved in peer education, this two day training is for you. A complete update on the changes and a chance to improve your existing skills. Existing peer educators should take part in Refresher Training before starting the new initiative.
One day trainings held three times a year to give information and resources on new topics to add to your 4 portfolio.
Experienced In4mers can take part in this training to get the skills needed to show girls in units how to be peer educators. This can be Brownies in their Sixes, Patrol Leaders in their patrols and even Guiders in their Leadership Teams. Contact CHQ for more details of these trainings.
It's all about working "4wards, 4self, 4others"
Just because you've left the Senior Section doesn't mean you stop being involved in 4. (If you're under 26, you can fulfil these roles too).
You can be a link for local In4mers by becoming a Supporter – someone who offers guidance and support on issues relating to 4 and the young people delivering the initiative.
Working with Supporters, In4mers and the County Senior Section Team, you oversee and monitor 4 in your local area.
4's not just for Senior Section . . . it's for units too
Inviting In4mers to your groups and units can be a great experience. We can run sessions on topics including Eating Disorders, Refugees and the effect of the Media. 4 is an innovative and exciting way to raise awareness of issues in your groups, with young people learning from their peers.
